Happy Memorial Day! Today we are going to take a look at some digital scrapbooking supplies to help commemorate Memorial Day. To preserve the memories.
What is Memorial Day
Memorial Day, a significant observance in the United States, is not merely another long weekend or a chance to enjoy outdoor barbecues and sales. It is a day of deep reflection and remembrance—a solemn occasion to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the country's armed forces.
As we gather with our loved ones on this day, it is important to pause and consider the true meaning behind Memorial Day.
A Historical Perspective: Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day traces its origins back to the aftermath of the American Civil War. Devastated by the colossal loss of life during the war, communities across the nation began organizing tributes and ceremonies to honor fallen soldiers. In 1868, General John A. Logan, the commander-in-chief of the Grand Army of the Republic, declared May 30th as a day to decorate the graves of those who died in defense of their country. Over time, Decoration Day transformed into Memorial Day and was officially recognized as a federal holiday in 1971, observed on the last Monday in May.
Honoring the Fallen: Memorial Day provides an opportunity for Americans to pay tribute to the men and women who bravely fought and died for the ideals that this great nation upholds. It is a time to remember the soldiers who selflessly answered the call of duty, leaving behind their families, dreams, and aspirations. These courageous individuals, from all walks of life, made the ultimate sacrifice, protecting the liberties and freedoms we hold dear. Remembering Their Sacrifices: As we commemorate Memorial Day, it is crucial to reflect on the immense sacrifices made by our fallen heroes. They sacrificed their lives to ensure that future generations can live in peace and freedom. Their bravery and dedication to upholding the values upon which this nation was built are unparalleled.
Memorial Day Digital Scrapbooking Supplies
You know the drill if you have been around here for longer than a post. But I will always say...
Everything is linked to their counterparts in the store. I am not set out to have these series filled with designs from the creative teams I am on. However, as they are all awesome, they are bound to pop up from time to time. If you want to know what teams I am on, check the "My Creative Teams" tab at the top of this site. The creative teams I am on I get their products for free. That is in return for making sample layouts for their advertisement purposes. I am not required to post anything about them here at Shawn Bear Scraps. If it makes it here, it is because I super love them!

I hope you like these digital scrapbooking items to scrap your Memorial Day layouts. I am a proud daughter of a military veteran. I love so much that these items were so readily available and easy to find! I tried to focus more on the military options and less on the patriotic items. Those will come in a few months when I showcase 4th of July goodies.
Happy Memorial Day!
La'Shawn is a 39 year old wife and mother. She works full time outside the house as a customer service rep for a small roll steel plant. She has lived in Georgia (in the states) her entire life. You can currently find her just a few hours north of Atlanta. Much closer to Chattanooga, TN though. She has been digital scrapbooking since 2008. She was looking for a way to document her son growing up before her eyes. After looking around a bit, she found digital scrapbooking, and never looked back. She has been on many creative teams (solo & stores) in the past 11 years. Her style leans more towards the traditional, and she never met a kit that she couldn't scrap with. She loves patterns, bright colors, and all the elements all the time! Creating clusters on her layouts is what she loves doing the most. Making sure every piece is where it should be. Let La'Shawn scrap for you! Are you looking for a creative team member? La'Shawn is looking for a few more teams to create for and promote.
